APAA: Good bye Penang, see you in Okinawa and prepared for Bali

63rd APAA Council Meeting had been held in Penang during last November 8-11, 2014. Congratulation to friends of Malaysian Recognized Group of APAA as the host of the meeting. International Exhibition of Young Inventors (IEYI) 2014

The Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), as the organizer of the International Exhibition of Young Inventors (IEYI) 2014 in Jakarta announced on Nov. 2, 2014 the winners of competition under the theme "Creating a Better Future Through Innovation".
 

Indonesia New Copyrights Act

On 16 September 2014 the House of Representative passed the Bill on Copyright, replacing former Law No. 19 of 2002 on Copyright.

Key points in the new Copyright Act are, among others:

  • Article 16 (3): copyright is intangible moving objects and could be used as collateral fiduciary.
  • Article 57 (1): the protection of moral rights is unlimited.
  • Article 58 (1): the protection of economic right is extended from 50 years after the creator’s death to be 70 years after the creator’s death.
  • Article 69: there will be one national collective management organizations (CMO) to collect and manage the royalty of copyright owners.
  • Criminal copyright infringement now requires a formal complaint from the authorized/ the holder of the rights.
  • The new Act regulates traditional cultural expressions, data compilations and video games.
  • Government has authority to block website containing the material of copyright infringement.
